  1. Solution 2: Update Unknown Device Driver. Possibly, besides hardware ID, you can get the right driver for Unknown device by updating it in Device Manager. The process of updating a driver is to find the device driver for Other devices. Update Unknown Device Driver Via Device Manager: 1. Open device manager.
  2. If you wish, doubleclick on the ZeptoProg CDC device entry in the device manager to configure the driver. Click on the Port Settings tab. You can leave the settings at the default values. Note that we are using a virtual COM port and the ZeptoProg ignores these settings.
  3. Intel® Network Adapter Driver for PCIe. 40 Gigabit Ethernet Network Connections under Linux. This download record includes the i40e Linux. base driver version 2.14.13 for the 700 series devices.
  4. Windows may install drivers for select devices, say the graphics card, under certain circumstances. This happens by default for instance when the device is setup, but may also happen when Microsoft pushes driver updates through Windows Updates.

There is no com port section in the device manager. I have updated drivers, tried different connectors etc. I did the command prompt method on both machines and there simply are no com ports. The device shows up as a mass storage device under the USB section. I cant get either machine (win 10 or 8.1) to recognize it as a com port.

Forgive me if this is in the wrong place.

I decided to update to AS6.1.2562 when I realized that my AS4 didn't have the profile for one of the AVR's I just purchased. I noticed that my Flip was outdated so I went from 3.4.5 to 3.4.7 just after installing AS6.1.

Prior to installing AS6.1/Flip3.4.7 I had no problems whatsoever with Flip.

Devices

I played around with 6.1 for a little while and when it came time to upload my code to my Atmega32U4 (A MT-DB-U4 board by Mattairtech) Flip just refused to connect to the 32U4. I get a message that says:

com.atmel.flip.IspException
Could not open USB device.

Tried reconnecting the 32U4.
Tried different ports.
Uninstalled and reinstalled Flip.
(Can't go back to 3.4.5 as I've misplaced the original installer.)
I haven't hosed the DFU bootloader as I haven't loaded anything between the upgrade from AS4 to AS6.1.

Finally I followed the directions (found in Flip 3.4.7/usb/UpdateDriver/WinXP_USB_Driver_Update.html) regarding the Jungo drive but all I see is WinDriver. No mention of the 32U4 anywhere that I can see.
I tried it anyways and on Step 5 when it discusses the new drivers to be updates, the only drivers I find are:
WinDriver Version: 10.2.1.0 (8/31/2010)
WinDriver Version: 11.0.0.0 (2/27/2012)

Unchecking 'show compatible drivers' doesn't yield anything more useful.
